User Profile

I'm an absolute nut for film and TV, but most specifically for Japanese special effects and monster productions - including GODZILLA, GAMERA and ULTRAMAN - which rapidly developed into an interest for Japanese culture itself. I did some (very) minor home study of Japanese for a couple of years, but have only begun studying seriously at part-time University classes for the last year or so. For two weeks over March and April 2005, I went on a tour around Japan, spending time around Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, and several other cities. Lots of fun, but *far* too brief. I'm hoping I can return very soon and stay a lot longer. In Summer 2004, I also visited Hollywood USA for a Godzilla film festival, where I got to meet GODZILLA TOKYO SOS (2003) director Masaaki Tezuka, and had a very bad photo of myself taken with him. Since 2003 I've also been running a Japanese monster website called Tokyo Monsters.com, and recently opened a new site Ultraman-Nexus.com dedicated soley to Tsuburaya Production's recent TV series ULTRAMAN NEXUS (2004-2005). I've always loved writing, and have had a couple of my articles run around the internet, including the most excellent www.scifijapan.com. During the breif time I was at college (the first time!), I also developed a real interest in photography, which I continue to persue. I suppose I have a pseudo-life. I'm not a professional at anything I do, and probably never will be.
